Featured in Argonaut News: My “See Me After Class” Exhibition Brings Middle School Back to Life

Adam Greener’s exhibition See Me After Class featured in Argonaut News — large-scale spiral notebook illustrations on display at Art Unified gallery in Venice, California.

I’m excited to share that my show See Me After Class: A Spiral Bound Journey at Art Unified was featured in Argonaut News!

In this in-depth article, writer Bridgette Redman dives into the story behind the series—how a childhood spent doodling in spiral-bound notebooks evolved into 32-by-40-inch hand-crafted sheets filled with irony, rebellion, and humor. From burned detention slips to oversized math problems with sarcastic answers, each piece draws from real middle school memories that still feel universal.

“Few people talk about their middle school days with fondness, but that could change if they visit Adam Greener’s exhibition…” – Argonaut News

The interview explores how the work has evolved over decades, and how it all started from a simple anti-drug drawing assignment in elementary school. I also share how I physically build each piece from scratch—down to hand-drawn notebook lines, punched paper holes, and handmade museum board sheets that mess with scale and perception.

Big thanks to Bridgette Redman and Argonaut for capturing the heart of this show. The exhibition runs through October 12 at Art Unified on Abbot Kinney. If you’re in LA, come by and experience it in person!
