About
Adam Greener
Adam Greener has always been a storyteller. As a kid, he spent most of every class period filling his notebooks with doodles and sketches that often landed him in detention with pages full of “I will not…”
Today, those early impulses have evolved into large-scale canvases that mimic loose-leaf notebook paper, as if torn from the desk of a distracted grade-schooler. Through these oversized “pages,” Greener explores how youthful imagination makes sense of the chaotic swirl of culture, rules, and social expectations. His acrylic illustrations revisit the obsessions and humor of adolescence, re-presented with a sharp, subversive eye that’s anything but grown-up.
Adam's art is not just an exploration of his own past but a mirror reflecting the universal, often turbulent journey of growing up. By revisiting relatable themes of adolescence - those formative years that are both uniquely personal and deeply shared - he invited viewers into a communal space of reflection. Through his work, Adam reminds us that despite our diverse paths, the core experiences of our formative years are a shared tapestry, woven together by the common threads of joy, confusion, rebellion and discovery. His art becomes a bridge connecting the individual to the universal, the past to the present, and the imagined to the real, inviting all who encounter it to find a piece of their own story within his work.
His work is held in private collections across the U.S., including Robert Downey Jr., who owns four pieces. Other collectors include Kate Beckinsale, Blake Griffin, Jason Flom (former CEO of Atlantic and Virgin Records), Casey Cowell (founder of U.S. Robotics), Phillip Raskind (partner at WME), Kate Waisman (Children’s Director at The Met), and Pat Wilson (board member at SFMOMA).
